ABB Software Engineer interview: fundamentals and a difficult final round

The process started with a familiar technical sequence but became a test of both fundamentals and performance under pressure. I faced medium-level data-structures and algorithms questions, plus computer-networks and operating-systems topics with a clear cybersecurity-basics tilt.

There was also a group discussion, which made it feel less like a one-shot evaluation and more like an assessment of how I reasoned and interacted. The difficulty ranged from average to serious for me because I had to balance technical clarity with the conversation.

I made it through three stages before being rejected at the final face-to-face interview. That conversation was the hardest emotionally, not because the material was more difficult but because it did not feel constructive. The interviewer spoke with others in Mandarin during parts of the exchange, and their body language felt dismissive to me. Earlier rounds seemed to assess my skills; the last felt more subjective than I expected.

Location: Bengaluru. Overall feedback: neutral. Offer status: no offer.
