Not many interview reports out there, so let me add mine — hope it helps. My recruiter was unreliable and ghosted me right after the interview.
One round of OA. The VO (onsite) was four rounds of analytics interviews.
OA: The SQL was pretty easy. The Python question gave a list/dict of city housing prices, and I had to find the median price for each city.
VO:
SQL: Find the top N, then figure out how to handle ties — you need to proactively clarify that with the interviewer. There was also a question about calculating how long someone stayed on a page, which needed a LEAD() first and then a diff. And another one: users with impressions on 7 consecutive days count as a "super user," and you had to find them.
Coding: One question was to find super hosts — the input was a list of ratings, and you had to identify super hosts based on a few conditions. Something like at least three listings, an average rating above some threshold, and 90% of listings needing a review within the last 30 days. The other question was a sliding window problem, I don't remember the details anymore.
BQ: Mostly asked about the details of an end-to-end project. It really depends on the interviewer — nothing too tricky.
Data modeling: The one round that really stuck with me. The interviewer asked how to design a model to show accumulative booking-related metrics, while also being able to show the first and last booking times. I designed it and used SCD, and then the interviewer started challenging everything — the whole time they had their head in their hands, rubbing their face, all kinds of negative body language, and it had me on edge the whole time. They wouldn't give any guidance either, just sat there awkwardly asking "are you sure you want to use this?" At the end they asked some query/table optimization questions, again just throwing them out with no context, and when I asked for clarification the answers were vague — unlike other interviewers who'd nod along once you hit the right point. This interviewer made my skin crawl.
After that the recruiter went dark on me. I followed up three or four times, and not a single email got answered. Finally, late one night, I got a rejection email — felt like I'd just been kept as a backup option the whole time. I tried asking for feedback, and sure enough, they went silent again. Unbelievable.
Lesson learned: you really have to be willing to ask clarifying questions, and look at more different types of fact model designs. Don't let garbage interviewers and a garbage recruiter ruin your mood.
