Fresh rejection from Bloomberg. A recruiter reached out on LinkedIn.
They quickly scheduled the first round, an HR sync, about 30 minutes. They asked about my general work experience, whether I owned the roadmap, whether I had experience launching products globally, how I worked with cross-functional teams, and what the product I owned was like. They walked me through the overall interview process (there would be 2-3 rounds: hiring manager, technical round, stakeholder review). They also asked about salary expectations — the HR person was very transparent, telling me the approximate range and whether the number I was asking for was something we could negotiate to, and asked whether I needed visa sponsorship.
The day after talking to HR, they scheduled the hiring manager round.
The interview with the hiring manager was very conversational. I introduced myself first, talked about my product, and walked through owning the roadmap end to end, plus some specific technical questions, like how to handle software stack support and transition during a system migration. They also asked how I'd decide on the key considerations when deciding to support a new OS, asked about my career transition (I moved from financial services into tech), and introduced the new role, the newly created department, and the business needs behind it. They left about 10 minutes at the end for me to ask questions. The whole interview lasted about 25 minutes.
Overall the Bloomberg process felt very efficient — I got the result (rejected) the next day, but the experience itself was good. Wishing everyone good luck with their job search.
