Bytedance Product Manager Interview Experience — TikTok Ecosystem Questions, Rejected Two Days Later

The first step was a take-home assignment with three questions: one about TikTok's ecosystem, and two more that were kind of behavioral-style.

About a week after I submitted it, they scheduled an interview with me. They didn't say how many rounds there would be.

I was originally scheduled with a director, but then got rescheduled to a team lead instead. The interview was entirely in English, and it sounded like this person had come over from Google.

Mainly they asked about a project on my resume that was fairly relevant to the role. The follow-up questions went into some detail but weren't too deep. Then they asked what I thought about TikTok's ecosystem, plus two or three more fairly macro ecosystem questions.

(I asked my mentor from my previous internship afterward, and they said my answers were too shallow...)

When it was my turn to ask questions at the end, I felt like they gave me a pretty thorough introduction to the team too. Looking back at the conversation, I felt like it went okay, nothing majorly wrong, but unfortunately I got rejected just two days later.
