Sharing a recent Capital One TDP Power Day interview report. The Power Day had three rounds in total: Behavioral, Case Study, and Agentic Coding.
The Behavioral round was pretty standard, basically all classic BQ. As long as you prepare a few projects ahead of time and tell the stories clearly with the STAR framework, you should be fine. Teamwork, conflict, and failure are especially worth preparing.
The Agentic round seems to be new. They gave me a full stack app codebase, with React + Vite on the frontend and Python + FastAPI on the backend. The main task is the same as what is described in other write-ups of this round: first find and fix the bugs in the code, and once those are fixed, write a new feature. Since Claude was allowed, you can basically prompt the AI to help locate problems, analyze the code, and fix the bugs, though of course you still need to understand the code and the logic of the changes yourself.
The Case round was the chatbot case that earlier reports have mentioned, and the details are the same as what is written up elsewhere. The interviewer started with some high-level questions, like what benefits this solution could bring to Capital One and to customers. Then they gave me a piece of code and asked me to explain what it does and what could be improved. After that they added a few new feature requirements and asked me to talk through how I would change the existing code to support them. This round did not require writing any actual code, it was mostly explaining my thinking and reasoning out loud.
