My process moved quickly once it started, but the bar felt high and a few details didn't land the way I expected. I went through a recruiter screen, then a hiring director conversation, followed by two panel interviews. The first panel went reasonably well, and I got good feedback. The second was rougher for me. There was also a PRD writing exercise that took about 90 minutes, although it sounded like at least some of that work wasn't reviewed by the team members who mattered.
The questions were fairly standard consumer-facing PM prompts, but the role didn't quite match the way I've typically worked. I'm more used to internal-facing product work, and I remember the process giving me the impression that this wouldn't be an issue. It ended up feeling tougher than I expected. By the end, I also learned that not all of my materials had been considered.
I wasn't offered the role. The hardest part wasn't only the difficulty of the loop. It was the combination of the intensity and the feeling that some critical work hadn't been used the way I expected.
