IFS Backend Engineer interview experience: SQL, Java, and Spring Boot

IFS·Backend Engineer·Reported Jul 2026
Technical ScreenMedium

This was a multi-stage process covering both skill and fit. It began with screening, moved into detailed technical assessments, then system-design-style evaluation and behavioral discussions. By the end, it felt as though they had assessed technical depth as well as how I work with other people.

The technical content stayed close to the role: SQL, Java, and Spring Boot. It did not feel random. The overall difficulty was average, but the number of stages made it clear they wanted a broad picture rather than one deciding conversation.

I did not receive an offer, yet the process stayed professional and comfortable. I understood what they were assessing, and it felt fair rather than prolonged for its own sake.

Location: Sri Lanka. Overall feedback: Positive. Offer status: No offer.
