I began with an online HireVue. The questions were about why the firm and role, finance basics, and behavioral topics. I had around 30 seconds to prepare before answering, with a limited number of takes depending on the question. The timing made even straightforward questions feel tight.
The prompts also covered why I wanted banking, teamwork, and market awareness or trends. The format seemed fairly uniform across applicants, so there was not much room to stand out. It felt more like screening for fit than showing depth.
Later team conversations stayed mostly behavioral with little technical content. I did not receive an offer. I felt I had done well on the fundamentals and fit questions, but differentiation seemed to depend largely on how smoothly I came across under time pressure.
Location: San Francisco, CA. Overall feedback: positive. Offer status: no offer.
