Macquarie Group Software Engineer interview with a rushed whiteboard discussion

The process opened with a screening step and then a technical interview. The recruiter and interviewers were professional and friendly, but the logistics got muddled. My discussion started late, then felt rushed once it began, which threw off the timing.

The technical part relied heavily on whiteboarding. It was not only about writing code. I was asked to reason about engineering and architecture, including how I would approach building things in a real system. Despite the rushed start, I could follow the questions and it seemed the interviewers were working through a clear agenda.

The broader process followed recruiter screening, a combined cultural and technical conversation, a psychometric assessment, practical evaluation, and a final cultural check for team fit. Its structure felt smooth even though my start was messy. I did not receive an offer. The interview content matched what I expected, but the logistical hiccup made it harder to show my best thinking.

Location: Australia. Overall feedback: Neutral. Offer status: no offer.
