I just got an early update from the recruiter. The email said they're still gathering information, but unfortunately it's "not a perfect fit."
I did 11 rounds in total and met 10 people. The whole process was absolutely ridiculous, spanning a full two and a half months.
- Referral
- HR screening: Netflix culture, personal background, why I'm job hunting
- First technical round: pure SQL, had to actually run
- Second technical round: SQL + case study
- Third round, Hiring Manager: met hiring managers from two different teams
- Fourth round, Onsite: six sessions total, and this is where the ridiculous part happened — they swapped in a third Hiring Manager
Four of the onsite sessions were mostly conversational. There were two technical ones, I think — one with a DS and one with an AE. Both cases were about ad frequency caps. I've never actually gotten angry over a rejection before, but I genuinely felt the vibe and the questions from these two interviewers were way too condescending. Not my problem — theirs.
I've been interviewing for the better part of a year now, still no offer, and I've already collected a stack of onsite rejections. This is the only time I've actually been angry and felt wronged. You really don't need to be that arrogant — we're all just working people.
