A trading simulation occupied most of my roughly hour-long technical interview. After introductions and discussing my interest in trading, I evaluated bot quotes using a mixture of shared and private information. I chose whether to trade, the direction, counterparty and quantity, while tracking inventory and profit or loss.
The interviewer repeatedly challenged the reasoning behind those choices. New information required revised valuations, and existing positions complicated the next trade. We also considered information value and estimated trading results before a final debrief and my questions.
I found the continuous explanation harder than an isolated expectation calculation. Keeping beliefs, exposure and accounting straight at once exposed gaps in my reasoning. My preparation advice is to combine conditional-expectation and probability practice with P&L calculations, explaining decisions aloud as you work. The report does not state an interview outcome.
