This round was mainly a project demo / project deep dive.
The project could be something from work or something I had built myself. The main task was to explain what I had done, how I had designed and implemented it, what problems I had encountered, and the feature or product's impact and scale.
The interview felt more like a conversation than a fixed set of questions. The interviewer kept following up on the project: why I had designed it that way, why I had chosen that approach, what the trade-offs were, why one option wasn't as good as another, and whether I had considered alternatives. The main point was to see how well I understood what I had built and whether I had thought carefully about the decisions at the time. There were also hypothetical questions.
For example: If I needed to add a new XYZ feature now, how would I do it? What information would I need first? They wanted to see whether I would analyze the requirements before thinking about the design.
Personally, I felt the interview went reasonably well. I answered basically all the questions and didn't feel there had been any major problems at the time. But I still received a rejection the next day. :(
My project was from work, so I can't share too much about it here.
