Pinterest Intern Machine Learning Engineer Interview Experience — An Extra ML Practitioner Round

I applied through a referral on October 11, received an assessment invitation on October 13, and had a phone screen on October 20. My technical interview was October 26; the next day, I was invited to an ML practitioner interview on November 2.

The technical round included introductions, about ten minutes on my experience, three ML fundamentals questions, and an original coding problem that I considered hard. The practitioner round started with a previous project, then asked how to recommend three relevant boards when a user saves a pin. I thought defining the problem and developing the modeling framework step by step was important.

I was awaiting that round's result when I posted. A manager interview could follow if I passed. I had heard that matching with the ATG team added the practitioner round, rather than every applicant necessarily following the same sequence.
