The system design phone screen used the news aggregator problem from the question bank, and all of the questions were standard. I had prepared this problem carefully, so I thought my answer went well. I also answered every follow-up, and the interviewer seemed satisfied with my responses.
Even so, I received a rejection about ten minutes after the interview ended. The result and its timing left me completely confused. I wondered whether the position had already been filled.
