This has been an extremely long timeline, and even now I still don't know whether they want to reject me but can't bring themselves to say it, or whether they're just pretending it's still a team match. If any of you are at Robinhood, please help me figure this out. Thanks!
Feb 11 — talked with the recruiter.
Feb 19 — first technical round, they said I passed.
Then another prep call with the recruiter.
The onsite was originally scheduled as one round on 3/5, one round on 3/6, and two rounds on 3/9. But suddenly the interviewer for 3/6 apparently needed to reschedule, and they just moved it to three weeks later, out of nowhere.
I emailed the recruiter and the scheduler many times asking if it could be moved earlier, and finally got that round pulled in from way off in the future to March 18. By March 18 I'd already done 3 rounds, so this was just the last one.
After that round, no news for a week. I figured it had already dragged on this long, so I started preparing to move on. Then on March 26 a no-reply system email sent me an Immigration Assessment form to fill out — a multi-page one. So I thought there was hope again.
Then on April 1, they set up a meeting with a manager, and the meeting link the recruiter sent said "Team Match" — even though I'd actually applied to this team already. It's an old, legacy web team. That same night, close to 9pm, the recruiter called me and said the manager thought it went well, and talked to me about the comp range and asked how I felt about it. He also said he'd try to push for something higher in the range for me. Then after the call, past 9pm, he also emailed me saying "let's talk tomorrow."
Then no news on the 2nd, no news on the 3rd, and I was preparing to move on again. On the 6th I sent a follow-up. He replied on the 7th saying "I'll get back to you by EOD tomorrow." Then the 8th came and went with nothing said.
Then today they emailed me saying the role had been moved to Toronto. But if I search their careers page right now, this role is still listed as being in California. So is this just an excuse to reject me? He also CC'd another recruiter, saying that recruiter would help me look for other roles. Some friends told me maybe they just didn't want it to look bad, which is why they kept making me feel like it was still a team match.
Questions:
- Coding: build a calendar, basically similar to a Google Calendar-type problem
- Project: talk about what I built myself
- Architecture: a photo-management system — you can add photos and organize them into albums
- Another coding round: given a list of strings, you can place the strings into, say, 3 rows. Part 1 was just place them anywhere; part 2 was to find which row has the most empty space and place the string there.
