My process started with a recruiter call and quickly became structured technical conversations. I was usually asked to walk through my resume and projects, then they dug into what I had actually done. Sometimes the prompts were straightforward about systems; sometimes they were scenarios meant to test how I reasoned.
One round combined leadership-style discussion with coding. I had to explain my plan, code a full solution immediately, and review it. My confidence wavered when my mind went blank, but I recovered by coding the parts I knew best. After basic tests seemed fine, an unexpected test case failed my solution. That was unsettling because I did not see it coming.
Across the technical work, they were not only checking syntax. They wanted problem-solving and architecture-level ideation, tied back to the technologies I listed. In one DSA and DBMS discussion, those concepts were connected to my projects, along with a situational question about the role I would be doing. Even when my preparation matched my background, the questions and constraints could shift, and the unexpected failure really showed up under pressure. I did not get an offer, but I came away feeling that the technical bar was real.
