Shopify feels like a total outlier among interviews, honestly π The life story portion alone took a full hour....
You definitely have to read the company brochure HR sends over ahead of time β they'll ask what you thought of it. You don't need to go super deep, but you do need to praise it a bit. I'd suggest dropping it into ChatGPT and having it summarized for you.... either way, you have to read it.
They start from your undergrad journey β even your undergrad major all the way through grad school comes up. You need to prepare a little on every past job and on your college background too.
Beyond the normal self-introduction stuff, they asked: 1. A time you made a mistake at work. 2. The thing you're most proud of at work. 3. Walk through your most recent big project and how you worked with people from which teams. 4. Whether you'd ever completed a project without manager support, etc.
Also, Shopify won't tell you the salary range, which makes it really hard to talk about.... this was the first time I've run into an HR person who wouldn't directly tell me the range when I asked.
Even someone as talkative as me left with a dry mouth from all that talking.... I honestly can't imagine how rough this must be for someone who doesn't talk much.
