Phone interview with Snapchat.
The interviewer was pretty good to talk to — the whole process went well, he gave hints promptly, and he was pretty chatty.
I did so-so, I feel like I still need more practice, I stumbled a bit.
It started with a self-introduction, then a behavioral question about how to make decisions when the information you have is limited — not hard if you prepare well.
The technical question wasn't hard: manually implement the trig function sin(x), with a precision constraint. After I wrote it, I just tested and debugged it myself with a test case.
Then he asked how to optimize it, so I implemented an optimized version.
The main focus was actually the discussion afterward — how this function is used in practice in the real world, and how to optimize it further from an engineering standpoint.
The interview experience was pretty good, but I feel like I only did average. Whatever happens with the result happens.
By the way, what does everyone here think about this company's prospects? The stock price has been limping along.
