Both rounds of my coding phone screens were with interviewers from the company's tagged LeetCode question set. I'd recommend grinding more LeetCode before you go in.
The first round was LC 210 style — directed graph topological sort. Not much to say about the problem itself, except I had to write my own test cases. The interviewer for this round didn't seem to be feeling well — she was coughing and had her mic muted for a lot of the call. At one point when I wasn't sure about the syntax for sorting an array, she told me she didn't know Python, so she couldn't tell me whether what I'd written was correct (sweat emoji). In the last few minutes I finished the algorithm, but there was an issue with the print statement, and while I was in the middle of debugging it she told me to stop writing and start asking her questions instead. I'm guessing that's the round I failed.
The second round was a variant of LC 545, except the condition became a fully complete balanced tree. You could use DFS with a flag to figure out the boundary and the leaves. The interviewer was very nice, gave detailed examples and hints. After I got it working we discussed edge cases and complexity, but I didn't find many edge cases — felt like most of them were already covered by the given constraints.
Got rejected quickly after the interview. I asked the recruiter and they said they couldn't give feedback.
This is my first time posting an interview experience, so I'm not sure if the format is right. My grace period is almost up and I still don't have an offer — I'm getting pretty desperate at this point (tears).
