The HireVue video interview was time-boxed and unforgiving. I read each prompt, thought, and recorded a camera response with little total time and no way to ask clarifying questions. The behavioral questions were ordinary, but the real pressure came from a coding challenge added near the end of that same limited window.
It felt unlike normal live coding. The editor was unexplained, and I had to work from an existing code scaffold without the guidance I normally have. I considered giving up because learning the setup took more effort than the algorithmic piece. I stayed with it and passed the supplied test cases.
Then the process stopped without meaningful follow-up. I was disappointed because the coding task was hard not only in the abstract, but because I could not troubleshoot or iterate as I usually would.
