A couple of days after the referral I got an AI HR call — 15 minutes answering some behavioral questions — and then I received two separate OA links.
OA1 was a 15-minute, 50-question IQ-style test plus a company culture questionnaire. I didn't do that well on it — I only got through 45 of the 50 questions, and I'd estimate my accuracy was somewhere around 35-40%.
OA2 was a frontend CodeSignal OA: build a blog post frontend across four levels. Level 1 was simple — just read data from a local JSON file and render it. Level 2 added an "add blog post" feature, basically writing a form. Level 3 dropped level 1's local JSON data and instead called an API to fetch the blog posts — the catch was that the first API call only returns the author as an id, so you have to make a second call to get the full author info, which meant handling concurrency and errors. There was one thing that stuck me for a long time here: the requirement was that if the post's author is the current user, it should show "You" instead of the name, and the API URL to call is also different in that case — but I could never quite figure out how to determine who the current author is. I eventually managed to get it working and passed the unit tests anyway. Level 4 added a likes button to the blog posts, with posts sorted by like count — so if you kept liking a post during the interaction and its count passed the post above it, it had to automatically move up in the list. That part was pretty simple. In the end all the tests passed and I scored 1000/1000, which converted to 600/600.
Two days after finishing both OAs I got a followup email from HR. Right now we're still working out a time.
