The process began unusually smoothly and went far enough that I thought it was essentially finished. I received verbal and email confirmation of an intended offer, and HR walked me through the compensation package. I submitted identification and onboarding documents and was told the relevant internal system approvals were complete.
Then everything stalled. Hiring was stopped because of an internal freeze. At first it was presented as a routine role review that would take only a few weeks. Instead, I waited months with little signal before the cancellation came. I understand business conditions can change, but it was disappointing to have something unwind after so much time and effort from both sides.
In the end, I did not get an offer. What stayed with me was how late the update came and how uncertain it felt to invest in onboarding steps before headcount was actually secured.
