UCB Research Scientist interview: long panel and late technology feedback

I went through several steps that ended with a long final panel. After two earlier rounds, I was invited to a face-to-face stage lasting roughly 3 to 4 hours. It began with a presentation, moved into Q&A, and involved discussions with about 10 interviewers. I was eager to meet the team and understand how the group worked, but the day took substantial time and preparation.

The feedback afterward threw me off. I was told I lacked hands-on experience with a particular technology, even though my CV had already shown that experience and I had discussed it openly during the process. If it was truly essential, I felt it should have been checked much earlier, before I had invested so much time.

I left disappointed rather than energized and hoped they would validate must-have criteria sooner.

Location: United Kingdom. Overall feedback: Negative. Offer status: No offer.
