The process started with an online assessment that I was told only a small fraction of applicants passed. After I got through it, a recruiter call felt encouraging.
The technical screen was unsettling. The interviewer introduced herself, asked me to introduce myself and explain why I wanted the firm, then moved to my research experience. She seemed repeatedly confused about its basis and kept asking why I would start with that topic. After that, she opened HackerRank and I coded in Python for about 40 minutes.
There was little helpful interaction. I made a couple of small syntax mistakes and got dismissive reactions when I tried to clarify my work, including comments about "vibe coding." I could not submit because of one Python syntax error, and the interview ended abruptly at the 58-minute mark when she said she had to go. I did not get an offer and felt that communication and expectations had broken down more than my technical ability.
