Hi everyone, hope you're doing well this winter. This is my second post — sharing my interview experience for the Walmart PM Intern position. It seems like there aren't many PM intern write-ups on the forum, let alone for Walmart, so I hope this helps.
Interview Experience
Timeline: I submitted my resume in mid-October -> got the OA right after submitting -> was notified in late October to schedule a phone screen (Round 1) -> had Round 1 in early November -> if you pass Round 1, Round 2 happens within a week (I personally didn't make it to the final round, but I'll describe what both rounds cover based on what I know).
OA: 9 multiple-choice questions related to PM and e-commerce case studies, plus 84 situational questions (agree/disagree). No time limit, and you don't need to turn your camera on.
Round 1: Behavioral and PM-related questions, 1 hour. There were two interviewers for this round, both very nice. The interview started with introductions — themselves and the PM intern position. The first question asked me to name a product I like, any type of product, and describe a few of its features and what I liked about it. The second question asked what I thought could be enhanced about that product. The third question asked what success metrics I would use to measure whether the enhancement worked. The fourth question asked what I had created before and what metrics I used to measure its success. The fifth question was a scenario discussion — if you had an e-commerce platform and it started getting negative comments, how would you handle it as a PM.
Round 2 (Final round): Behavioral questions, 30 minutes. From what I understand, the questions here aren't too different from Round 1. It should include, but isn't limited to: self-intro, requirement changed but deadline stays the same, a failure experience, handling conflicts, handling priorities...
For both rounds, I'd also recommend preparing for: what is PM / Agile / your greatest achievement, SWOT analysis of your favorite product, etc.
Last thing — I feel like Walmart's hiring process is pretty disorganized. There were one or two times I got an email saying I'd advanced to the next step, and then the next day got another email saying they were retracting the previous one. It went back and forth once or twice before they finally settled on an answer.
