My first meaningful technical round was a Karat interview that began with a discussion of my project. After that, I had two coding questions to solve. I struggled with the second one and couldn’t get all the test cases to pass, so the session ended with me chasing correctness.
In another attempt, the Karat interview went poorly for a different reason. The interviewer explained the problem badly and then ran out of time before I could fully implement it. A large part of the session went into explaining the question instead of building the solution, which threw me off.
Another Karat session had a different rhythm. It started with time spent on my resume, and then I worked through as many questions as possible in the time remaining. One problem was long-winded to explain but not too difficult conceptually. The next became a graph-reduction style question. That combination felt challenging.
Overall, I didn’t get an offer from these rounds. The difficulty wasn’t only in the problems. Session timing and communication also affected my ability to produce working code.
