My recruiter arranged time with the hiring manager and five engineers, so I met a lot of people in a short, back-to-back stretch. Most conversations were fine. One engineer, though, seemed to have decided what he thought before we had really started. He used less than the allotted time and did not seem interested in my background.
It felt as though he had not reviewed my resume. The loop eventually narrowed to WebRTC. I discussed SIP, RTP, the ICE framework, and that there are APIs to call, but I did not mention DTLS or RTCP. That omission seemed to carry a lot of weight.
I didn't move forward. To me it felt less like a shared evaluation and more like a confirmation of bias. After the initial outreach, communication also felt anonymous and half-hearted, which made the process seem opaque and unprofessional.
