Practice discussing workplace conflict and criticism with fictional examples of shared evidence, changed decisions, respectful feedback, and follow-through.
Discuss how you handle disagreement and feedback at work. Use real experiences, or clearly label practice illustrations as fictional.
### Part 1 — Conflict with another person
Tell me about a conflict you had with someone at work. What was the disagreement, and how did you handle it?
#### What This Part Should Cover
- Both parties' concerns and your own contribution to the conflict.
- How you gathered evidence, communicated, and reached a decision.
- What happened afterward, including any remaining disagreement.
### Part 2 — Responding to criticism
Describe criticism you received. How did you respond, and did it change what you did?
#### What This Part Should Cover
- The specific feedback and how you determined what it meant.
- What you accepted, questioned, or changed, with a reason.
- Evidence that the response improved the work rather than merely ending the conversation.
### What a Strong Answer Covers
- Respectful treatment of the other person's perspective without hiding the substantive issue.
- A concrete decision or behavioral change and its observed effect.
### Follow-up Questions
- What would you have done if the evidence had supported the other person's proposal?
- How did you check whether the change addressed the original criticism?
