New photo sharing app concept: choosing a use case, users, MVP and metrics
Company: INDmoney
Role: Product Manager
Category: Product Design & Strategy
Difficulty: medium
Interview Round: Other
Design a new product that people use to share images.
```hint Choose one sharing job
Sharing an image can mean sending a few photos to people you know, publishing to an audience, or handing files to a collaborator. Each job has different users, competitors and pain points, so commit to one before listing features.
```
### Clarifying Questions
- Is this a standalone app, or a feature inside an existing product whose users it should serve?
- Is the sharing private (to chosen people or a group) or public (to followers or anyone with a link)?
- Which users matter most: friends and families swapping personal photos, creators building an audience, or teams passing around screenshots and design files?
- What should the first release aim for: user growth, engagement or revenue?
### What a Strong Answer Covers
- A specific sharing use case and user segment, chosen over the alternatives with a reason
- Pain points that segment has with the tools it uses today
- A prioritized set of solutions and a first release that targets the most severe pain point
- A north-star metric and guardrails that fit the chosen use case
- Risks particular to images, such as consent of the people pictured, harmful content and storage cost
### Follow-up Questions
- People already share photos through messaging apps and their phone's photo library. Why would they switch to your product?
- Someone finds a photo of themselves in your product that they never agreed to share. What happens?
- How would you make money without weakening the free sharing that drives growth?
