Ticketmaster System Design

Design a Ticketmaster-like platform for finding events, reserving seats, paying, and validating admission. This is an illustrative architecture, not a description of Ticketmaster’s private implementation. The worked storage example uses cinemas to make the seat and show counts concrete.

A popular event creates an uneven workload: many people may browse the same event while a much smaller inventory is available to buy. The hard requirement is that an accepted purchase owns valid inventory, even when requests race or a payment response is lost.

We will define the contract, estimate a hypothetical workload, sketch APIs, and trace the reservation and payment states. Availability updates can be eventually delivered; seat ownership needs an authoritative decision.
