Affirm Software Engineer interview: finance-style coding and a timed technical screen

My online assessment felt like a finance-specific LeetCode problem. Afterward, I had a 30-minute recruiter screen about the role and logistics, including compensation, the actual work and cultural fit. It wasn't a particularly deep conversation, but it gave me an idea of what they wanted.

Next came a technical screen where I shared my screen for a timed coding problem. I only saw the prompt when the exercise began, so I had to adjust quickly. The hiring-manager stage followed and felt like a standard live discussion. The difficulty stayed around average, and the tone was businesslike without being especially stressful.

I didn't feel unfairly judged on my fundamentals. It was a fast, assessment-focused process that asked me to perform clearly as new details appeared. It felt matter-of-fact rather than dramatic.

Location: New York, NY. Overall feedback: positive. Offer status: no offer.
