ALTEN Belgium Software Engineer interview experience: technology-list coding game

ALTEN Belgium·Software Engineer·Reported Jul 2026
Medium

The assessment began with a coding exercise. I received a technology list by email and used it to complete a coding game, which made the technical portion self-directed while still requiring me to implement something.

Afterward, I spoke with the recruiter about available projects. That discussion gave the technical work context and suggested there could be a way to match me with an appropriate project.

Even with that structure, I felt there could be a mismatch between my level and the expectations, as if the evaluation was not always calibrated well. It was more engaging than purely conversational rounds because I had to demonstrate work rather than only describe it.

Location: Lyon. Overall feedback: Neutral. Offer status: No offer.
