Amazon DSP Software Engineer interview: DSA screens and lost confidence

I started with a recruiter and then had a technical screen focused on problem solving and communication. I was asked several DSA-style questions, and the interviewer cared about how I handled them as much as whether I reached an answer. I solved only a couple, while the rest did not click, so the session felt difficult and lengthy.

In a separate, lighter coding-focused screen with more recognizable questions, I began with a quick introduction and then got two LeetCode-style medium questions: balloons and arrows, and path sum in a tree. That interview felt easier, but I still choked on the moment-to-moment execution, so the confidence did not last.

Across both experiences, I came away feeling that this role prioritized DSA fluency and clear step-by-step thinking. Once I fell behind early, it was hard to recover. I did not move forward after either screen.

Location: Hyderābād. Overall feedback: Positive. Offer status: No offer.
