I had an intense take-home stage. A home test split time between a HackerRank/LeetCode-style coding problem and a separate debugging task in what looked like a full-stack repository.
In the debugging portion, an API call behaved unexpectedly. I had to find the bug and make every test pass, where small mismatches could break the result. The coding prompt was also time-boxed and seemed designed to reproduce messy edge conditions from real work.
The stage was difficult because it required persistence and careful iteration, not just one clean function. I did not receive an offer. My takeaway was that this kind of assessment punishes a lapse in debugging discipline even when the original problem seems manageable.
