After an online assessment, I entered a full loop packed into one intense day. It had the kind of Amazon structure I expected: multiple coding rounds, design, and a deep behavioral bar raiser.
The first coding round began with a warm-up before moving to a practical meeting-intervals DSA problem. I used a heap, then had to think through reassignment and idle time in a follow-up. A later round paired coding with a Leadership Principles prompt and asked me to build an LRU cache from scratch. I had to explain my reasoning, edge behavior, and capacity cases while the interviewer pushed on thread safety and tricky constraints.
The bar raiser was the hardest part. There was no coding, just deep STAR-style probing on my exact contribution, what I learned from failure, how I handled ambiguity, and what I would do differently. The final stage was low-level design: a parking lot system, including spot selection and release methods.
I did not get an offer, but the process felt rigorous in a way that was hard to fake. Communication, trade-offs, and careful problem framing mattered as much as the final code.
