Amazon Software Engineer virtual onsite interview experience

My process began with a recruiter screen, then moved quickly through an online coding assessment and a technical phone interview. The questions were practical but time-constrained, which made it harder to slow down and check every edge case.

The final stage was a virtual onsite loop with multiple interviews. I had data-structures-heavy questions, system design, and a debugging-focused segment. Amazon Leadership Principles appeared throughout, and behavioral questions required specific STAR-style stories. The behavioral work relied on explaining decisions and trade-offs, not only recounting events.

The process was structured and intense, with more pressure than I expected from the time limits. I did not get the offer. It felt like an evaluation of execution under constraints as much as raw knowledge.

Location: Australia. Overall feedback: Neutral. Offer status: no offer.
