Applied Materials Software Engineer Interview Experience: Next-morning invite and limited preparation

Applied Materials·Software Engineer·Reported Aug 2026
Easy

I received an invitation for the next morning and barely had time to prepare. The interview itself was simple, with light questions that did not require much practice, but I had not had time to collect my thoughts and messed up my responses.

It began as a quick background conversation about my background and why I wanted the company. Then there was a technical review with LeetCode questions. One was basic and the second was medium, so it was not entirely trivial even though the round felt manageable overall.

For me, timing mattered more than skill. I did not get an offer, and my biggest regret was having so little time to prepare.

Location: Austin, TX. Overall feedback: negative. Offer status: no offer.
