Later, I went through a deeper track with senior and principal engineers. I had an hour-long discussion of my experience with a senior software engineering interviewer. The last round was coding with a principal engineer. The coding task itself felt easier, but the pressure came from digging into C++ fundamentals and the reasoning behind the implementation.
The final round did not feel like I was failing on the surface, but I was not invited to the next step. The process felt cut short despite how much effort I had put in.
