Capital One Product Manager interview: withdrew after recruiter mismatch

I only reached the early stage because the recruiter call put me off. It felt disconnected from product-manager work and the roles being hired for. I came away thinking the person did not understand what Product teams did, and they discouraged me from taking part in a rigorous full-day process if I did not feel like a strong fit.

There was a brief attempt to pull me back into the process, but I had already decided to withdraw. The loop itself sounded clear and intense, not impossible. I simply did not want to continue after that first contact felt so misaligned with the role I had applied for.

That early mismatch killed my motivation more than any later interview format could have.

Location: United States. Overall feedback: negative. Offer status: no offer.
