Chainlink Labs Software Engineer, NDA and lengthy take-home process

Take-home ProjectHard

From the beginning, what stood out was how much time the process required outside the live interviews. I signed an NDA, and at least part of the coding challenge involved a third party. The recruiter was supportive, and the structure sounded transparent, but the later stages made it clear how much of the burden was on me.

The biggest surprise was the take-home work. One round was described as potentially taking a very long time. Once I realized how much time I’d need to invest just to be considered, I couldn’t bring the same energy to it. I also ran into mismatched expectations. In one coding round, I was expected to use a specific language that hadn’t been communicated beforehand, which put me at a disadvantage from the start.

I didn’t get an offer. The interviews themselves weren’t the worst part, but the restrictive agreements, unclear coding requirements, and huge time commitment left me with a disappointing impression.

Location: Brazil. Overall feedback: Positive. Offer status: No offer.
