I interviewed for a Software Engineer role through a recruiter screen, a technical screen, and a virtual onsite. Overall, it felt like a standard process with mixed outcomes and a few awkward moments.
During the recruiter screen, we discussed my experience and fit, including behavioral questions. In one case, I was unexpectedly asked to describe a trade-off situation.
The technical screen was a live coding assessment focused on a chat-server-style problem. I solved part of it and communicated my thinking, but I didn't move forward.
The virtual onsite was a full-day, multi-round loop with several technical and behavioral interviews, usually conducted in Discord. The interviewers were often kind, although the expectations could feel unclear. I didn't get an offer. Preparation helped, but fit and execution against the chat-style technical bar could decide everything.
Location: San Francisco, CA. Overall feedback: Positive. Offer status: No offer.
