Google Hiring Assessment Experience — New "Most Like Me / Least Like Me" Format

There's a change — a new question type: "Most like me / Least like me"!!!

I'd read another poster's thread on this before and replied there too. (Putting everything together here so people don't miss it!)

I just finished the newest GHA as of 5/xx/2026. Part one is the "Most like me" and "Least like me" questions — each one gives you three statements, and they're all positive things, so it's really hard to pick! Part two is situational questions, and like that other poster said, understanding the question ahead of time really helps with answering.

Let me talk in detail about the new question type: "Most like me / Least like me"

Example (not a real question, just an example):

Example:
A. I finish my work on time.
B. I communicate clearly with colleagues.
C. I use feedback to improve my work.

First you pick "Most like me," then from the remaining two you pick "Least like me."

Another example:
A. I prefer to receive detailed instructions before starting.
B. I can make progress even when the situation is unclear.
C. I communicate updates when priorities change.

This was my first time running into this kind of question, and it's really hard to choose... You have to quickly settle on your own persona and then make the pick.

ChatGPT's advice was: these questions aren't asking you "which one is the good-person behavior" — they're asking: when several good qualities conflict, which work style are you most like? You can position yourself as:

I'm reliable and deliver on time, but what stands out more about me is that I can find root causes, solve problems independently, adapt to change, and work well with a team.

OR:

Your chosen work style can be:
I am a clear communicator who delivers work reliably, listens to feedback, and helps the team stay aligned.
That is consistent, professional, and strong.

Basically it's all the kind of statements you'd have picked "Strongly Agree" on before — I'm guessing they're trying to figure out your style from the path of questions you choose~ There was one question where it looped all the way back around — all three answers were "Most Like Me" options I'd already picked before (in meaning). Haha! Interesting!

Using the keywords below to settle on your persona early, before you start answering, might help: ownership, customer empathy, structured problem solving, security mindset, collaboration, ambiguity handling, continuous learning, production reliability.
