Google Software Engineer Interview Experience — Inside the Hiring Assessment's Judgment Section

The assessment has two parts. The first part is the same as what earlier posts already described, so I won't repeat it here. For the second part, since earlier posts only mentioned it briefly, let me say a bit more. This section gives you a scenario and asks you to pick the action you'd be most likely and least likely to take. Here's what I got:

• You had a good idea about YouTube's design that your boss didn't adopt.
• You're in charge of buying a tool for your company, and it happens that your friend's startup makes exactly this kind of tool — if their company doesn't land a big client soon, it might go under.
• A new PM who can't keep up on the technical side is being mocked by coworkers.
• A friend of yours who's about to go bankrupt and works at a competitor asks you to share some important client information.
• Year-end review time comes around, and you notice the system mistakenly credited a coworker's results to you, right when you're on the edge of hitting your own goal.
• Year-end review time comes around, and a client has verbally promised to buy your product — which is exactly what you need to hit your goal.
• A new coworker who doesn't fit in with the company culture is being mocked by others.
• A client sends you an expensive gift.
• As an SDE, your deadline is coming up, and a coworker wants you to use code they wrote at a previous competitor company to get it done.
• You need to discuss a confidential report with a coworker, but they're on vacation and only have their personal computer with them.
• Your deadline is coming up and you need your manager's approval to send confidential material to a client, but your manager has already left for the day.
• You're at a coffee shop and your manager wants to call you to discuss something confidential.
• A competing company sends you a full-time offer.
• While traveling with a friend, they want to borrow your work laptop to check their personal email.

Each question gives you four possible actions, and you have to pick the one you're most likely to take and the one you're least likely to take.
