Google Software Engineer interview: referral, six coding questions, and support

A referral started my loop and moved me to a recruiter call sooner than I expected. The process then had three coding rounds, each with two LeetCode-style questions, a system-design interview, and a behavioral interview.

The overall vibe sat in the middle: challenging but not cruel. In the coding rounds, I needed to solve cleanly, communicate clearly, and handle follow-ups instead of treating the first working approach as the finish line. One round also had an object-oriented design theme, so it was not all algorithms.

The behavioral and fit portions were standard but surprisingly direct. One segment felt focused on getting to know how I worked as a professional and as a person, and the interviewer explained what they were looking for. Even when the technical questions were hard, the interviewers were supportive and guided me when I was stuck. I did not get an offer, but it still felt fair. What stayed with me was how much the process rewarded clarity and persistence more than raw speed.

Location: Israel. Overall feedback: positive. Offer status: no offer.
