Google Software Engineer interview: unclear live DSA communication

This interview was hard in a particular way. It was not only the complexity of the DSA questions, but also the interaction with the interviewer. I got directional array questions involving dynamic programming, though I could not clearly recall the full second part of the problem afterward.

The interviewer did not speak clearly enough for me to ask clarifying questions effectively. I spent extra mental energy trying to understand what was being asked, which made the problem itself feel harder. In the live editor, I also could not run code easily, so I had to dry-run the logic mentally instead of relying on quick feedback.

I did not get an offer. The main difficulty was the communication friction layered on top of the algorithms, not the algorithms alone.

Location: Montreal, QC. Overall feedback: negative. Offer status: no offer.
