Google Software Engineer interview with four rounds and onsite C++ implementation

The process felt steady and not especially punishing. I started with a recruiter phone call and, about a week later, a technical screen. There were four interview rounds in total: two coding rounds, a behavioral round, and a system-design round. The coding was LeetCode-style medium algorithm and data-structure work, with the usual need to communicate clearly, get the code right, and think through time and space complexity as I went.

Each round followed a similar pattern: solve a problem, then handle a series of follow-ups. One round leaned into more "Google-y" questions. There was also an onsite component where I implemented things in C++, including a container and an iterator, along with a system-design problem. Even with the follow-up pressure, it did not feel chaotic. It felt like they were testing how I reasoned through details.

Coordination took about a month, mostly for scheduling and alignment. The difficulty was challenging but manageable, and the process felt normal and professional even though I did not get an offer.

Location: New York, NY. Overall feedback: positive. Offer status: no offer.
