Google SWE III Onsite Experience and Team Matching Timeline

Company: Google

Role: Software Engineer III

Round: Onsite

Seniority: General

I interviewed for a Google Software Engineer III position. The process included two virtual interviews followed by two onsite interviews. The first virtual round focused on Googliness and behavioral questions. I structured my answers using the STAR framework, and the recruiter later said the feedback was extremely positive. The second round was coding-focused and involved an array problem. I completed the solution without hints. My approach differed from the expected optimal solution, so I spent additional time explaining and dry-running it. We did not reach the follow-up, but the overall feedback was positive. During the onsite, the third round was my strongest. I solved the initial coding problem and fully implemented the follow-up as well. The fourth round involved a detailed scenario that initially made the underlying problem difficult to identify. I eventually developed a multi-source BFS approach, but I first misunderstood part of the requirement. After correcting the approach, I had only five to seven minutes left and completed around 60–70% of the implementation. The interviewer highlighted code quality as an area for improvement. The next day, the recruiter said the onsite feedback was positive and that I had already been matched with a team. During the team-fit conversation, I learned that much of the near-term work would involve Salesforce, while the longer-term vision was to build an internal CRM platform. The business opportunity sounded promising, although the day-to-day work was different from what I had expected. It has been more than a week since that discussion, and I am still waiting for an update from the recruiter or hiring manager. Overall, the interview process appears to be progressing positively, but the final team match remains in progress.
