After a recruiter call, I had a technical screen built around a coding and design prompt. I needed to create an API that returned a transaction identifier, then explain API versioning and exception handling. The follow-ups covered real microservice implementation and the tradeoffs among batch processing, messaging queues, and event-driven approaches.
They also asked about Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub in relation to the role. I had to explain my design choices as I went, rather than just write code or recite theory. Later, HR communication lost momentum. I waited, received little information, and never got detailed feedback on why I did not move forward. I did not get an offer.
