Lyft Software Engineer Interview Experience — Wiki Crawler Design and a Talent Pool Rejection

The phone screen was the typical one: they give you an API that can fetch pages, and you write a wrapper that calls this external API to implement fetching by word count.

Onsite, showtime.
The system design was wiki crawling: how do you crawl all of the wiki's content and store it, while keeping it updated within a certain time window, for example no more than five days stale.
The coding was the classic commit rollback problem: begin (transaction), set, unset, commit, rollback. Once you commit, you can no longer roll back. Begin transaction opens a block, and what is inside the block is what rollback and commit apply to. Note that blocks can be nested.
The behavioral round was a 45-minute chat with the EM. Nothing special, and no tricks.

Three days later I got an email, with one short part saying, "We understand this is a disappointing update, but please know that your application will remain in our talent pool, and we would be happy to consider you for future roles." Does anyone know what this means? Is it just a polite rejection in different wording, or is it not a hard fail, so that if I apply to other roles I would not have to interview again?

Finding a job is so hard right now. If you are not moving forward you are falling behind. What do those of you who don't have a job do all day?
