I interviewed at Meta last Friday, and Monday evening I got an email from the recruiter saying I passed — coming back to report on this.
Both the SQL and the product question were built around ads pixel, which I'd almost never seen in previous interview writeups before.
There were two SQL questions total, both pretty simple. The first was a simple aggregation. The second asked about the relationship between signal data quality and ads performance — I needed to clarify the definitions of quality and performance a bit here, but the SQL itself was easy to solve.
The product question was about a new "manage ads" method that lets advertisers get notified if something's wrong with their pixel, and I had to evaluate whether this feature was good or bad. I had zero background in ads, this was the first time I'd even heard of the concept of pixel, and I wasn't familiar with the background or metrics of the problem, so I could only fall back on the standard AB test design playbook. The interviewer was very genuine and friendly. She probably felt my answer wasn't entirely correct, and she even walked me through the correct way to think about it (which I also didn't fully understand lol).
Anyway, I passed in the end. Hoping the onsite goes smoothly.
